Short-term, hands-on training to help Herkimer County residents explore career pathways and take the next step.
Herkimer County Community College is launching its first round of FastTrack Plus programs this summer in partnership with MVCC FastTrack.
These free, short-term programs are designed to help residents age 17+ build practical skills, explore career pathways, and connect with local employment and education opportunities.
FastTrack Plus may be a good fit if you are exploring a career change, looking for short-term training, or unsure whether college or a longer-term program is the right next step.
Summer 2026 Programs
No cost programs launching this summer include:
Dental Assistant
- Starts: July 13 | Schedule: Online + one evening per week for 10 weeks
- A 60-hour hybrid program introducing participants to the administrative and clinical responsibilities of dental assisting. Participants who complete the course will be able to sit for the DANB courses and work in Dental offices supporting licensed dental professionals.
Advanced Manufacturing / CNC
- COMING SOON: October 2026| Schedule: Twice a week for 5 weeks
- A hands-on manufacturing program where participants learn shop safety, blueprint reading, measurement, inspection, and basic machine operation. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with local manufacturing companies directly to explore potential employment.
Restaurant Experience Lab
- Starts: August 25 | Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays for 6 weeks
- A hands-on hospitality program where participants build basic kitchen, service, teamwork, and communication skills through real-world restaurant practice. This course culminates in an opportunity to meet with local business owners and managers in a simulated restaurant experience.
