HCCC Supports Monarch Butterfly ProjectStudents from Benton Hall Academy became the 26th local classroom to participate in the Monarch Butterfly Project on Friday, October 30 in Little Falls, NY. Coordinated by HCCC science faculty, the project is designed to assist educators in kindergarten through second grade with the teaching of the life-cycle, a major component of the science curriculum.

Students Participate in Marrow Donor RegistryMore than 100 HCCC students participated in a ‘Be the Match Marrow Drive’ on Thursday, registering their tissue type with the hopes of becoming a match for individuals in need. Joining forces with the Center for Student Leadership & Involvement, the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 and based in Minneapolis, MN that operates the ‘Be The Match Registry’ of volunteer hematopoietic cell donors and umbilical cord blood units in the United States. The initiative is the world's largest hematopoietic cell registry, listing more than 10.5 million individuals and nearly 185,000 cord blood units. Hematopoietic cells from NMDP donors or cord blood units are used to transplant patients with a variety of blood, bone marrow, or immune system disorders.

Notice of November Board of Trustees MeetingsThe Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees will hold a joint meeting with the Foundation Board of Trustees on Thursday, November 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Robert McLaughlin College Center, room 282/283 followed by a regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting. Per New York State Open Meetings Law, the public may attend the meeting via videoconferencing at 5343 Roscoe Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.

Dolgeville Elementary visits HCCCFour second grade classrooms from Dolgeville Elementary School visited HCCC on Wednesday, October 28, in an effort to expose students, at an early age, to a college campus and to provide them with an opportunity to interact with students, faculty and staff.

Scholarship Application for Currently Enrolled HCCC StudentsHCCC is accepting scholarship applications from currently enrolled students for the 2016-2017 academic year. All currently enrolled students are encouraged to apply regardless of whether they are graduating this year or returning to HCCC for the fall semester.
